Flights are divided into three categories:
- Open
- Specific
- Certified
The “open” category includes all low-risk flights on UAVs weighing 25 kg or less. The training course will help you learn how flights in this category are carried out. The drone can be operated in a “specific” category beyond of the restrictions included in the “open” category. This category applies in the following cases:
- BVLOS – flights beyond the line of sight;
- using a drone with MTOW (maximum take-off weight) more than 25 kg;
- flights at an altitude of 120 m or more above ground level;
- dropping substances from a drone;
- flights with dangerous goods;
- using a drone weighing 4 kg or more or without class markings in urban conditions.
The “certified” category is intended for flights with the highest level of risk.
This category will include flights with passengers on board (for example, an air taxi). The principle of safety in this category will be similar to the rules for manned aviation. Such aircraft must have certificates of type and airworthiness. The drone operator will additionally need an operator’s permit issued by the competent authority, and the remote pilot will need a corresponding pilot’s license.
